The
Children’s Department at the Nevada Public Library encompasses books
for infants to young adults and embraces a variety of reading
materials for each age group. Do you like scary, funny, mysterious,
or fantasy? We have something for everyone. If you need a good
suggestion for a family read-aloud or a book to help with sibling
rivalry, Mrs. Bledsoe, the children’s librarian, will be glad to
help. Not only does Mrs. Bledsoe have 26 years experience as a
school librarian, but she also has taught children's literature at
both Avila and Ottawa Universities. Assistance is available
for homework and school reports utilizing the library collection as
well as computer access to on-line encyclopedias. |
Pre-school story times are held the first Tuesday of each month, September through May, at 10:30 am for children ages 3-5. Please call for reservations.

TRUMAN READERS AWARD
It is now official. The Truman Readers Award is the name of the new award established to primarily address those readers in the middle/junior high ranges, a category for book titles a little "older" than those on the Mark Twain list, and a little "younger" than those on the Gateway list. 2008-2009 will be the first year the students will be voting in this category. Voting is no longer restricted to the grade levels originally targated for the previous three Readers Awards. Students may now start reading in more than one category and have their votes counted at the state level this next school year.

Kids of
all ages enjoy our programs...there's always fun things to do at the
library.

Young people can use our computer lab for
research or online study projects. We have two groups of
Internet-connected computers. This
group is for study related Internet use and we
have a another group for public Internet access.

Library programs involve story times as well as
other hands-on activities
